The Lesson – Theatre Wallay

The Lesson is a masterpiece of the theatre of the absurd, a darkly comic one act play that depicts a nonsensical and increasingly dangerous tutorial between a deranged professor and a dull pupil. An eager pupil attends a lesson in the house of a well-known professor and is guided through the fundamentals of arithmetic, linguistics and philology. The plot unfolds as pupil and professor grapple through language, the supreme instrument of power, which, as the maid says, “Can take you further than you want to go!”
