Theatre Wallay and Rung School of Art and Music have joined hands to bring you an exciting opportunity to learn acting. It is a 3-months course. The acting students will go through the complete process of developing a play from scratch.The course will end with a short performance.

About the Trainers:
Theatre Wallay trainers have extensive experience of training youngsters and putting up theater performances. These trainers have performed in Islamabad, Lahore, Karachi, and in many cities in USA as well. Theatre Wallay team has visited USA twice. In 2015, the team performed its play ‘This Stained Dawn’ in New York, Boston and Washington DC. In 2017, the TW team performed its play ‘On Common Ground’ in Oregon Shakespeare Festival.
Safeer Ullah Khan will be the lead trainer for this batch. He will be accompanied by Fizza Hasan (Artistic Director, Theatre Wallay), and Ammar Khalid (Program Director, Theatre Wallay).
Safeer Ullah Khan (Lead Trainer)
Safeer has over 18 years of experience. He has attended various training courses conducted by various Fulbright scholars in past 7 years. He was part of the team that visited USA in 2015. He was also selected for International Visitors Leadership Program – an exchange program run by US State Department – under the theme ‘Arts for Social Change’.
He has vast experience of street theater. He has expertise in developing scripts, training new groups, and direction. He has directed many plays for Theatre Wallay including ‘Bachay Hamaray Ehd Ke (children’s play)’, ‘Siasat@8PM’ (has recently been performed in Islamabad, Rawalpindi, and Lahore), ‘Aao Drama Dekhen’.
He is an excellent theater trainer, and has been engaged by many national and international NGOs (including Catholic Relief Services, Coffee International, Bedari, SDPI, and The Asia Foundation) to train young theater artists. He has a knack for developing plays on social issues like girls education, domestic violence, child marriages. He can speak English, Urdu, Pashto, and Punjabi language.
His documentary ‘A Tale of Two Marriages’ (developed for Commonwealth of Learning) has been translated into 4 languages and is screened for communities in Pakistan, India, Bangladesh, Mozambique, and Tanzania.
Fizza Hasan (Co Trainer)
Fizza Hasan is the Artistic Director of Theatre Wallay. In fact, TW is her brainchild. She has not only founded but also nurtured Theatre Wallay to make it what it is today.
She has vast experience of putting up theater performances, and training young theater artists.She has worked with many groups, and organizations, and has put up shows for many entities including UNICEF, The Asia Foundation, Heinrich Boll Stiftung, and many private schools. Her forte is direction and training.
She has led the two teams that visited USA (in 2015, and 2017). She has directed innumerable plays. Her recent play was ‘Arturo Ui Youn Qabiz Hua’ – Urdu version of Brecht’s play. Earlier she directed ‘Zard Patton Ka Ban’, and ‘The Lesson’. Currently, she is working on staging Manto’s radio plays.
She will be taking some special classes during this acting course.
Ammar Khalid (Program Director)
Ammar is an actor and writer, and Program Director at Theatre Wallay. An anthropologist by training, Ammar completed his Masters at Columbia University on a Fulbright Scholarship, and is currently teaching high school History and Sociology in Islamabad.
He has been associated with Theatre Wallay since 2014, and has played important roles in its projects ‘Voices of Partition’, and ‘On Common Ground’. He has remained engaged with every Fulbright scholar visiting Theatre Wallay in recent years, and has developed expertise in conducting exercises pertaining to warm up, voice, script analysis, and viewpoints.
He will be taking some special classes during this acting course.
